Terms of Use
Last updated: July 23, 2026
These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) are an agreement between you and AGmobilelab (“we”, “us”), the maker of MediaScribe. They apply to the MediaScribe Chrome extension, the website at mediascribe.app, and the iOS app (together, the “Service”). By installing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.
What MediaScribe does
MediaScribe turns YouTube videos into readable text. It shows the transcript from the captions YouTube already provides, with timestamps, search, translation and export. No sign-in is required on any surface.
Free tools and Pro
What’s free differs by surface:
- Chrome extension and website — getting, reading, copying and exporting the basic transcript is free and requires no account.
- iOS app — the basic transcript is part of Pro. Without a subscription you get a free preview (the opening lines of the transcript plus a sample AI summary and translation) so you can try the app before subscribing.
Across all surfaces, the AI features — AI summaries, AI translation and AI transcription of caption-less videos — are part of Pro (with limited free previews). We may change which features are free or paid over time, but we won’t retroactively charge you for something you already bought.
Subscriptions (auto-renewable)
On the iOS app, Pro is offered as an auto-renewable subscription purchased through the Apple App Store. The following terms apply:
- Plans and price. Pro is available on the plans shown in the app (for example, a yearly and a weekly plan). The exact price and billing period are displayed in the app, in your local currency, before you confirm the purchase. The total amount to be billed is shown as the most prominent price element in the purchase screen.
- Billing. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account when you confirm the purchase.
- Auto-renewal. The subscription renews automatically for the same period at the then-current price unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- Managing and cancelling. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID account settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions). Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.
- Refunds. Any unused portion of a free period is forfeited when you buy a subscription. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies; we don’t process App Store payments and can’t issue App Store refunds directly.
- Restore. You can restore an active subscription on your devices using the “Restore” option in the app.
If we offer Pro through the website or extension in the future, the applicable billing terms will be shown at the point of purchase and are separate from the App Store subscription above.
Acceptable use
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in line with YouTube’s and Apple’s terms. In particular, you agree not to:
- use the Service to infringe anyone’s copyright or other rights, or to process content you don’t have the right to process;
- abuse, overload, or attempt to circumvent rate limits or security of our backend or caption proxy;
- reverse engineer, resell, or redistribute the Service except as allowed by law;
- use the Service to build a competing dataset or to scrape at scale.
You are responsible for how you use transcripts, translations and summaries, and for complying with the rights of content owners.
Third-party content and YouTube
Transcripts are derived from captions served by YouTube for the video you choose. MediaScribe is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube, Google LLC, or Apple Inc. Your use of YouTube content remains subject to YouTube’s terms and the rights of the content owners.
AI features
AI summaries, translations and transcriptions are generated by automated models (via OpenAI) and may be inaccurate or incomplete. Don’t rely on them for decisions where errors could cause harm. See the Privacy Policy for what content is sent and to whom when you use these features.
Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design and content we create, belongs to us and is protected by law. These Terms don’t transfer any of our intellectual property to you beyond the limited right to use the Service. You keep whatever rights you already have in the content you process.
Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don’t warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that transcripts, translations or summaries will be accurate or complete.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time by removing the extension or deleting the app. We may suspend or end the Service, or your access to it, if you materially breach these Terms or to comply with the law.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the applicable law of your place of residence to the extent required by mandatory consumer-protection rules; otherwise, the parties will resolve disputes in good faith. Nothing here deprives you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law that applies to you as a consumer.
Apple App Store — additional terms
These terms apply to the iOS app obtained through the Apple App Store, and in case of conflict with the rest of these Terms, they control for that app:
- This agreement is between you and AGmobilelab only, and not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app; that is our responsibility.
- If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple may refund the purchase price (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation, and any other claims are our responsibility.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app, including product-liability, legal or regulatory, and consumer-protection claims.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for investigating and resolving any third-party claim that the app infringes intellectual-property rights.
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as “terrorist-supporting”, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
- You must comply with applicable third-party terms of service (including YouTube’s) when using the app.
Changes to these Terms
If we change these Terms, we’ll update the date at the top. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
